Race 7, the Hurricane Bertie, was the first race today run on the sloppy Gulfstream main track not won in front-running fashion. But I don't feel the track has changed, and I do think is it still speed-favoring.
My reasoning for that is Hurricane Bertie winner Dream Pauline was close to the front-end from the outset, and I suspect the two who did dispute the pace - Blamed and Stormy Embrace - simply performed poorly.
We'll get more evidence in race 9, the Fred Hooper, the next dirt race. In the meantime, the La Prevoyante on turf is coming up next.
