There are four stakes for California-breds on Saturday's 11-race program, and jockey Drayden Van Dyke rides contenders in all of them.
The first stakes, the third race, is the $100,000 California Cup Turf Sprint for 3-year-olds. Van Dyke rides Our Silver Oak (1), who has been gelded since his last start. In the following race, he is aboard Heck Yeah (5) in the California Cup Sprint, the 4-year-old's first start outside of his age group.
Later in the day, Van Dyke rides Cordiality (5) in the $150,000 Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Turf Sprint on the hillside turf course in the mare's first start since she was claimed for $62,500 last month. Finally, in the last race, the $200,000 Unusual Heat Turf Classic, Van Dyke rides King Abner (10) in the 5-year-old gelding's stakes debut.
Through Saturday's first race, Van Dyke was tied for sixth in the standings with nine wins. The figure could easily increase this afternoon.
