Si Que Es Buena ($17) was the last of several runners who made aggressive moves heading into the far turn, and that patience was rewarded as she caught Santa Monica and went on to post victory by about one length on Saturday in the Grade 3, $200,000 La Prevoyante for older female grass runners.
Santa Monica was second, and Semper Sententiae third in the field of 12.
Si Que Es Buena was making only the third start in this country since being imported last summer from Peru. She won the Via Borghese in her prior start, also at Gulfstream, four weeks ago.
That race, though, was on firm ground. She proved equally adept on a yielding course on Saturday. She was timed in 2:34.04 for 1 1/2 miles, which is more than 11 seconds shy of the course record.
Chris Landeros rode the winner for trainer Graham Motion.
Si Que Es Buena, 6, a daughter of the Candy Stripes stallion Equal Stripes, has now won seven times in 15 starts. She is owned by Takaya Shimakawa.
