Stewart Elliott, who won the 2004 Kentucky Derby on Smarty Jones, is headed back to the Bluegrass State this spring. Elliott is expected to ride in both Kentucky and Indiana after the completion of the Oaklawn Park meet in early May, according to his new agent, Tony King, who will begin representing him later this month.
The chance to represent Elliott unfolded when agent Jay Fedor decided to book mounts for Chris Landeros at the Keeneland meet that begins in April, King said.
Elliott has largely ridden at Oaklawn and at Southern California tracks in recent years. Winner of the 2017 George Woolf Memorial Jockey Award, he entered Thursday's racing at Oaklawn Park with a seven-for-59 record there.
