Outlaw, the 8-5 favorite, was disqualified from first to second in Saturday's third race for maiden claimers after drifting out significantly in the final sixteenth and interfering with runner-up Mongolian Empire ($13).
There was a head between the first two finishers in the one-mile race. Mongolian Empire, ridden by Ruben Fuentes, closed steadily to just miss winning the right outright over Outlaw, who was ridden by Evin Roman.
The disqualification of Outlaw was a majority decision by stewards Grant Baker, Luis Jauregui, and Kim Sawyer.
