MIA MISCHIEF, ridden by Ricardo Santana Jr., put away AMY’S CHALLENGE and finished clear of a belated bid from 4-5 favorite MARLEY’S FREEDOM in winning the 33rd running of the Grade 1, $500,000 Humana Distaff, the first of 7 straight graded stakes on the Kentucky Derby card at Churchill Downs.
Trained by Steve Asmussen, Mia Mischief, a 4yo Into Mischief filly, was dismissed at 11-1 in the field of seven fillies and mares. She finished the seven-furlong distance in 1:21.78 over a fast track. The win margin was 1 3/4 lengths.
The full order was 3-7-5-2-6-1-4.
The $2 exacta (3-7) paid $66, the $1 trifecta (3-7-5) returned $141.10, and the $1 superfecta (3-7-5-2) was worth $308.10.
Byron King will have the full Humana Distaff recap up before long on www.drf.com.
