Digital Age, confidently handled by Irad Ortiz, Jr., was up wide and in the final jumps to edge A Thread of Blue by three-quarters of a length in the Grade 2, $400,000 American Turf for 3-year-olds.
Digital Age ($19.20), who is trained by Chad Brown for Klaravich Stables, is now three-for-three on his career. The colt won his debut in January at Tampa, then won the listed Columbia Stakes at the same track on March 9.
A Thread of Blue was coming off three straight wins at Gulfstream Park, including the Grade 3 Palm Beach Stakes last out. The colt raced on the lead and battled gamely down the stretch to turn back a threat from Social Paranoia, coming up the hedge. But it was Digital Age rallying widest of all who was up in the final jumps for the win.
The final time was 1:44.63 for the 1 1/16 miles on turf still officially rated firm. The course took rain on Thursday and Friday, and a light rain was falling at post time.
A Thread of Blue held second by a head over Social Paranoia, with Seismic Wave another three-quarters of a length back in fourth.
