Trainer Jamie Ness and jockey Trevor McCarthy struck again in race 2 with Minister’s Strike, who paid $10.40 in the $12,500 starter allowance race on turf.
Ness and McCarthy have both been on fire and are now seven for 11 together at the Pimlico meet.
Ness is 8 for 15 at the meet and and has twice as many wins as Claudio Gonzalez, who is second in the trainer standings.
McCarthy is now 10 for 36 at Pimlico this meet. The second-leading rider is Javier Castellano, who dominated Friday’s Black-Eyed Susan card by going 5 for 7 on the day
Ness and McCarthy will team up again in race 14 with Glory Song in a six-furlong maiden race.
