Jockey John Velazquez reached a milestone with a victory aboard Bast in Friday's Grade 1 Chandelier Stakes for 2-year-old fillies, winning his 661st graded stakes race. He surpassed the previous mark of 660 held by Hall of Famer trainer Jerry Bailey.

Only races in the United States and Canada are counted in the total.

Velazquez could add to the milestone later today. He rides Double Touch (7) in the sixth race, the Grade 2 Eddie D Stakes, and Eight Rings (3) in the Grade 1 American Pharoah Stakes, the eighth race.
