Oaklawn Park on Wednesday announced a 2021 stakes schedule of 33 races worth a record $11 million. Purses are projected to average $700,000 a program, according to the press release. The track intends to race 57 dates from Jan. 22 through May 1, with the calendar and the stakes schedule pending approval from the Arkansas Racing Commission.
Oaklawn's stakes schedule is topped by four $1 million races: the Grade 2 Rebel, the Grade 1 Arkansas Derby, the Grade 2 Oaklawn Handicap and the Grade 1 Apple Blossom.
Arkansas Derby Day is set for April 10.
