Hall of Fame jockey Victor Espinoza celebrated his own birthday on Sunday with a win in the second race on Bochombo ($8.60) in a maiden special weight race for 2-year-olds.

Bochombo won the race at 4 1-2 furlongs by 2 1-4 lengths over 9-5 second choice Bet on Mookie.

Espinoza, 49, has a solid record on his birthday in the last 10 years, when racing was conducted on that day. Espinoza was 0-for-2 in 2013 at Hollywood Park, 1-for-2 at Santa Anita in 2014, 1-for-5 at Santa Anita in 2015, and 0-for-5 at Santa Anita last year.

Espinoza has more mount this afternoon, Jimmy Irish (3) in the seventh race, the $100,000 Cinema Stakes at 1 1-8 miles on turf for 3-year-olds.
